What our color consultation includes
Color choices go wrong in predictable ways. A gray reads blue in a north-facing room, a warm white turns yellow next to an existing cream trim, a color that looked right in a showroom flattens under LED bulbs, and an open-plan floor gets painted one room at a time until nothing quite agrees with anything else.
A consultation solves that on site, before anything is bought. We look at your light through the day, at the fixed things you are not changing — floors, counters, tile, brick, cabinetry — and at how the rooms are seen from each other, then narrow the field to a handful of candidates and test them large enough to actually judge.

How we do it
Our color consultation process
Every step below happens on every job of this type. Nothing here is an optional extra we quote separately later.

Walk the space
We look at every room in daylight and under your own lighting, and note the fixed materials you are keeping.

Set the direction
Warm or cool, contrast or continuity, and how much the palette needs to carry between connected rooms.

Narrow the candidates
A short list rather than a fan deck — a few colors that genuinely suit the light and the materials in the room.

Sample large
Big samples placed on more than one wall, because a two-inch chip cannot tell you what a wall will do.
- 05
Check at different times of day
Morning, afternoon and evening light change a color noticeably. We leave samples up so you can see it happen.
- 06
Confirm and record
Final colors, sheens and locations are written down room by room, so the schedule is unambiguous when painting starts.
Timeline & pricing
A consultation is normally a single visit plus time for you to live with the samples. It is included when you book a repaint with us — ask when you request your estimate.

Color Consultation FAQs
Do I have to book painting to get a consultation?
No — but it is included when you book a repaint with us, so most people combine the two. Ask about it when you request your estimate.
Why does the color look different on my wall than on the chip?
Scale and light. A small chip is surrounded by white paper, which changes how you perceive it, and your room's light — direction, time of day, bulb temperature — shifts the undertone. That is exactly why we sample large and leave them up.
Can you match a color I already have?
In most cases yes, from a clean sample of the existing finish. Bear in mind that aged paint has usually shifted from its original formula, so a fresh match can read slightly different next to a wall that has been up for years.
What about trim and ceilings?
They are part of the same decision. Trim color, ceiling color and sheen set how strong the wall color reads, and we choose them together rather than defaulting to plain white on everything.
